Norkus Foodtown Your Hometown Grocer Since 1935
Norkus Foodtown has been a successful family tradition for more than sixty years. Francis Norkus, its founder, strongly believed that "customer satisfaction is our #1 priority" and that still holds true today.
It all began in 1935 with Francis's first grocery store, Table Talk, which was located on Main Street and later moved to Mechanic Street in Freehold. As business grew, he needed a larger store. So, in the early 1950's, the first Norkus Foodtown supermarket was opened on Park Avenue in Freehold.
Over the years, Norkus Foodtown has expanded the tradition with the opening of supermarket stores in Point Pleasant, an additional store in Freehold, on Fischer Boulevard in Toms River, in Manalapan and in Neptune City. Most recently, in December of 2004, Norkus Foodtown acquired Foodtown of West End in Long Branch.
During its growth, Norkus Foodtown has had a long history of helping the community and those in need. Francis always cherished the people in the community and wanted to show his gratitude to them. This tradition continues today. In memory of Francis, the Norkus Charitable Foundation was created. The Norkus Charitable Foundation donates tens of thousands of dollars each year to non profit organizations throughout central New Jersey.
With Gerry Norkus (Francis's son) directing the company, and sons Stephen and Mark at his side, customers are assured of the continuing commitment to outstanding customer service and community involvement.
